I have found the trip I like. How can I sign up?
You can call us at 1-800-914-9133 (within U.S. and Canada) or email us at info@asiavoyages.com. One of our travel consultants will be happy to assist you. A deposit of $200 per person is required at the time of booking. The deposit can be paid by major credit cards.
A pre-trip packet will be sent to you once your trip deposit is received. The packet includes a travel guide book, visa instructions and application forms, travel insurance information, invoice statment, etc.

How do we get the visa for our trip?
Asia Voyages will help you with the visa application process. Upon receipt of your tour deposit, we will send you a pre-trip packet with visa instructions and forms.

Can you recommend a travel insurance company?
Yes. We have been using Travel Plus Travel Protection provided by Travelex Insurance Services. An application will be sent to you with your pre-trip packet.

When do I receive my final trip documentation?
Your final trip documentation will be sent to you about 3 to 4 weeks prior to your departure. The documentation includes confirmed itinerary with flights details, a complete list of local contact persons and numbers, hotel addresses with telephone/fax numbers, major city maps, etc.

What is the baggage allowance on the flights?

Baggage allowance differs for the transpacific and China sections of your tour. US and non-stop transpacific allowance is two pieces of checked baggage totaling 106 inches (sum of the three dimensions). Baggage allowance within China is one piece of baggage not over 44 pounds per person.

For domestic flight within China, there is a 1 bag check-in allowance at 20kgs/44lbs. Carry-on is limited to piece and can not exceed 20x40x55cm or weigh more than 5kgs/11lbs.

Can I arrange my own international flight tickets?
Yes. While we can book the special-priced (which is usually the best deal) international flights for you, it is perfectly OK that you make your own arrangements by using your airline miles or coupons.

Do you provide arrival transfer from airport to hotel?
Arrival transfer will be provided for all of our scheduled departures, even if you arranged your own international flight.

How do I meet with my guide upon arrival?
After you have cleared custom formalities and claimed your baggage(s), please proceed to the exit. Your guide will be waiting for you there and holding a sign with your name.

How do I tip on the trip?
Tipping to the guide /driver has become a common practice. The average is about $4-6 per person / day to both the guide and the driver. Applicable hotel taxes have been included in your tour package. You do not need to tip at the restaurants on our tour.

What is the size of your group?
All the scheduled departures are limited to only 10 tour participants. We want to make sure that each participant gets maximum attention and care from our professional guide. This will also save you valuable time by avoiding any delay waiting for your fellow travelers, a common practice when you are with a larger group.

Do I need to take any immunizations?
No immunizations are required for entry into China, unless the traveler is coming from a yellow fever infected area. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta recommends that all travelers have current polio and tetanus immunizations . For traveling into the countryside, immune globulin is also recommended to combat hepatitis A, as is typhoid immunization. It is very important to bring along a supply of wide spectrum Antibiotics, an anti diarrhea agent, and any other prescription drugs required. For the most updated information, please contact CDC in Atlanta or visit their web site at http://www.cdc.gov

Can you arrange pre-or post-tour?
Yes.

What is your cancellation policy?
Please refer to our General Booking Conditions at http://www.asiavoyages.com/info.html

When is the best time to visit China?
Deciding when to visit China depends on which places you wish to visit, what type of weather you enjoy, and how much a bargain you want. Remember that China is a huge country with many different climates and types of terrain. Think of it in terms of United States, which China resembles in size and shape. Traveling along the Golden Route (Beijing, Xian, Shanghai, Guilin) is like visiting Philadelphia, Knoxville and Southern Florida all in one trip. May, September and October are the peak tourist months at China’s most popular destinations, when the weather is most comfortable. Prices drop a bit in the shoulder season, which runs from late March through April and from June through August. The off-season arrives in late November, and continues through the winter when crowds are few and prices unbelievably low.

What to pack?
Pack lightly and bring casual clothes. A sturdy, comfortable pair of walking shoes is an absolute. A sports coat and tie for man, and one or two dresses or pantsuits for women will suit the most formal occasions to be encountered in China. Travelers should bring shirts, sweaters and jackets that can be worn in layers to suit a range of climates. Remember, dress for Comfort, not for Style.

Checklist:
  • Electrical converter and adapter plugs. China’s electrical system operates at 220 volts.
  • Hair dryer, razor, alarm clock.
  • Common toiletries, wet tissue, cold and digestive medications, lip balm, sanitary napkins and any over-the-counter medicines you generally use.
  • Chewing gum, mints or throat lozenges to keep your mouth moist.
  • Reading materials, including a guide book on the places you will see.
  • Sun-tan lotion and sun glasses. Raincoat if you go in July and August.
  • Camera & film. Be aware that while print film is available in most places, negative film may be difficult to find. And be sure to pack extra batteries.
  • A note book to keep track of all the exciting things happening on the trip.
