Itinerary


Day 1 USA/Beijing
Board your trans-pacific flight to Beijing.

Day 2 Beijing
Arrive in Beijing in the afternoon. Met by your guide and transferred to the centrally located Palace Hotel for three nights stay.

Day 3 Beijing
We start our day with a rickshaw ride to Hutongs, Beijing’s back lanes lined with authentic courtyard houses, for a glimpse of traditional Chinese life style. This is followed by a visit to the former residence of Qing Dynasty prince, Prince Gong's Palace, the epitome of classical Chinese architecture. In the afternoon, we visit Jinshan Park for a panoramic view of the city before exploring the many halls and palaces of the Forbidden City, home to 24 successive emperors for more than 500 years. In the evening, we attend a Chinese acrobatics show. (B, L, D)

Day 4 Beijing
Travel north to spend the morning at the jewel on Beijing’s crown-the Great Wall at Badaling while afternoon is spent touring the Summer Palace where emperors went to escape the oppressive heat of the city. In the evening, we are guests at a traditional Peking Duck Banquet. (B, L, D)

Day 5 Beijing/Xian
In the morning, we visit the exquisite Temple of Heaven, where the emperors performed annual rites essential to the well being of China; and the Lama Temple, one of the most renowned Tibetan Buddhist shrines outside Tibet. In the late afternoon, we fly to Xian and visit the ancient city walls before transferring to Shangri-la Golden Flower Hotel. (B, L)

Day 6 Xian
In the morning, we visit the greatest archeological finds of the century, the more than 2000 years old Terra-cotta Warriors. More than 7000 individually crafted life-sized figures with horses and chariots have been unearthed. After visiting the Banpo Neolithic Museum, enjoy a lunch at Huaqing Hot Springs, a Tang dynasty spa of pavilions and bathhouses. We return to the city and visit the Big Wild Goose Pagoda dedicated to the founder of the Silk Road. (B, L, D)

Day 7 Xian/Guilin
After a morning visit to the Great Mosque, we fly to Guilin where we stay at Sheraton Hotel by the banks of Li River. (B, L)

Day 8 Guilin
Board Li River cruise ship to Yangshuo that sails through China’s most famous landscape. The tall pointed hills and rice paddies are familiar from innumerable Chinese paintings. The afternoon is spent browsing Yangshuo’s antiques and crafts stalls and shops before driving back to Guilin. (B, L, D)

Day 9 Guilin/Hong Kong
Tour of Reed Flute Cave, Elephant Trunk Hill and Fubo Hill. We take the evening flight to Hong Kong where we are transferred to the New World Renaissance Hotel for two nights stay. (B, L)

Day 10 Hong Kong
We spend the day enjoying this vibrant city's many sights and experiences. A half-day guided orientation tour will take us atop Victoria Peak for a 360-degree view of Hong Kong Island, Kowloon, the surrounding harbors and outer islands. Then a scenic drive takes us past Repulse Bay to the colorful floating community of Aberdeen, and vibrant Stanley Market, a favorite bargain shopping area. After a dim sum lunch, you are free to explore the other aspects of the city for the remainder of the day. (B, L)

Day 11 Macau
Take a day excursion to the exciting Macau by Turbo cat. Return Hong Kong in the late afternoon. (B, L)

Day 12 Hong Kong/Tokyo
Transfer to airport for your flight to Tokyo. Upon arrival, met and transfer to Keio Plaza Hotel for two nights. (B)

Day 13 Tokyo
Full day highlights tour of Tokyo takes us to Tokyo Tower Observatory for a panoramic view of the city and Tokyo Bay. Attend a traditional tea ceremony at Happoen-Garden, and then visit Imperial Palace Plaza, the exquisite outer garden of Empress Dowager’s residence. Barbecue lunch at Chinzanso Garden Restaurant. After lunch drive by National Diet building, ride on a sightseeing Boat up the Sumida River. Visit Asakusa Kannon Temple & Nakamise Shopping Arcade before return to your hotel. Free at leisure in the evening. (B, L)

Day 14 Tokyo/Home
Board your homeward flight. Arrive home the same day. (B)
